Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
“Our lives are so different…” a family member recently commented about how different our lives are from each other.
It’s very hot and dry here; cold and icy there, dirt roads with goats, cows, and bicycle traffic here; fast moving traffic on freeways lined by malls, grocery stores, and gas stations there; refugees walking for days fleeing war here; homeless seeking shelter from the cold there; no electricity and mud huts here; materialism and busyness there… hopelessness without Christ. One thing remains the same we all need Jesus!
We have settled into our little village in north western Uganda. Yes, it is very different from where most of you live, but Friday I was constantly reminded why we are here. One, of the many, local mosques had gotten fuel for their generator so we heard over a loud speaker the call to prayer and preaching the whole day. We are surrounded by people that have no hope, no peace, no lasting joy, and a promise of eternity separated from our God and Savior. Oh Lord please let your name be made known and glorified here!
Aaron had some great meetings this week in our surrounding areas getting the word out about helping and teaching families to drill their own water well. After walking for two days all around the village we live not one home he stopped at was Christian, but he was greeted warmly and repeatedly heard “we’ve heard about you… that you will help everyone drill not just the Christians.” We were somewhat surprised and excited about this statement. God is already opening doors in our area! Would you start praying for us as we drill that MANY people would want to know why we are here? Pray for the divide between us to be bridged with love that can only be explained through Jesus. Ask for softened hearts and for opportunities to build relationships that allow us to share His truth. Pray for boldness and that we would walk by His Spirit every hour of every day.
Thank you all so much for partnering with us! Thank you for your continued prayers as we adjust to a new place and get a new drilling program up and running.
- for a few good men, that love the Lord, work hard, have integrity, and excited to help people get clean water.
-for wisdom as we make decisions on what’s the best way to do things here, where to drill, learn a new people group, adjust to a new place, and learn a new language.
-for us as we encourage the small number of believers here to have a deeper relationship with Christ, and be bold about sharing Christ’s truth and love with those around them.
We have so many reasons to rejoice and praise the Lord: a smooth move, safety on the roads, a place for us to live, sweet time with a cousin that was with us for awhile, no malaria last year (yippee), open doors to share, continued provision for us to be here and the list could go on and on. Praise Him with us!
We are truly thankful for each of you and your prayers and support. We love you all! If you are interested in how you can be more involved check out the links below.
In His Grace,
Aaron and Hannah
