Singing is an act of obedience; we gather and sing because we’re called to.

Way to go choir!  I'm still thinking about that last "it makes me wanna shout!" from the anthem "When I Think About the Lord" last Sunday.  What a great job - even with my bumpy start.  I watched as the truth of what you were singing took expression on your faces and in your voices.....and it blessed my heart!  Thank you again for your faithfulness in sharing.

Mother's Day is this Sunday, and we'll begin the day with the orchestra playing "Days of Elijah."  After we sing our opening song set, the choir and orchestra will join Jennifer in sharing our new arrangement of the great childrens song "Jesus Loves Me."  I have told you on many occasions that I strongly believe that the church needs the full spectrum of songs to proclaim His glory, to encourage one another and to teach the greatness of the nature and character of God.  We need theological treatises like "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God."  But we also need simple songs with simple truths that become a part of who we are.  "For the Bible tells me so" and "they are weak, but He is strong" are great examples of this.  I hope you'll join me Wednesday night in preparing to make this song a high point in our worship next Sunday.

No rehearsals next Wednesday, May 17.  I'm going to take the opportunity to go on a short trip with my dad and spend some time with him May 17-20.  I'd appreciate your prayers for safety and well being as we travel.
