Music drives away the devil and makes people forget all wrath, unchastity and arrogance.
— Martin Luther

It was such a good Sunday!  Man, what a service we had as we honored our peace officers, heard from a special guest preacher and sang to the glory of the Lord.  And did you ever sing!  My heart was thrilled to hear the church at worship singing songs like "We Believe," "Hosanna" and "Break Every Chain."  Something happens deep within when the lyrics of the songs we sing match the testimony of our own hearts as we praise Him - it's a work started and finished by the Holy Spirit of the Living God!  Thank you for leading our church in such a wonderful way this past Sunday.

This Sunday we'll observe the ordinance of the Lord's Supper in our morning service.  This is always a special time as we gather at the table to confess our sins, to remember the sacrifice of Christ and to celebrate the freedom we have as His new creation.  We'll be singing some great songs including "Under the Blood," "There Is Power in the Blood" and "Man of Sorrows."  The choir and orchestra will also be sharing "Through the Cross."  I hope you come with hearts prepared, ready to meet the Lord in this special time of worship.

Christmas is shaping up!  I had a good meeting last Friday with Keron Jackson and he is really looking forward to being with us on Sunday Night, December 11.  Will you also mark Wednesday night, November 30 on your calendar as a very important, do not miss rehearsal night in the worship center.   Keron will be with us that night to share with the choir and rehearse the music we'll be singing together.  Let me emphasize again, do all you can to get people here for this night of worship! Along with the songs he'll share,  Keron will share his testimony....and it is a powerful story of hope  that is found in Christ.  Christmas cd's are ready on the resource table in the choir room - get yours this Wednesday night.

Let me also invite you to join us this Thursday, October 6 at Greggton FBC in Longview as the Singing Men of East Texas will host a night of worship.  I'd love to see a number of folks from our church join us for a great time of worship and fellowship.  Also, remember that we will not have rehearsals on Wednesday, October 19 (that week only) while I am away on vacation.  You are a blessing!
