God is most glorified in us when our knowledge of Him ignites a forest fire of joy that consumes all competing pleasures and He alone becomes the treasure that we prize.
— Sam Storms

Whew, being under the weather for a few days makes you appreciate feeling good!  I got a bug on Sunday that knocked me off my feet for a couple of days, but feel much better - thankful to the God who heals.  I want to say thanks to you all for the wonderful way you ministered this past Sunday - especially as the the choir and orchestra shared "Through the Cross."  What a blessing that was.  Thank you, Walter Tehan for the beautiful way you shared during our communion service on Sunday morning....and for taking over on Sunday evening when I was ill.

Deb and I are so grateful to you for allowing us to take a few days vacation.  We'll be leaving on Thursday to travel to New England where we hope to see more of God's creative genius in the fall colors.  I appreciate Bro. Tim's willingness to lead our musical worship while we are gone.  We have regular rehearsal this week, of course, but next week, October 19,  we will not have rehearsals.  Both choir and orchestra will still be playing on Sundays, so come ready to lift up the Lord in song!  We will return from vacation on October 24 - looking forward to seeing you again on Wednesday, October. 26.

Thanks to Julie Tucker for a great reminder this week as we watch the news and consider the days ahead for our nation.  The hymn by M.D. Babcock says:
"This is my Father's world, O let me ne'er forget
That tho' the wrong seems all so strong, God is the Ruler yet!"

Our awesome, omnipotent, omniscient, loving, protecting, Father is in control of all....and nothing comes to pass that is not first sifted through His hands.  Pray.
